HRH the Crown Prince Guillaume attended the 72nd World Scout Foundation board meeting in Stockholm, where he was appointed acting Chairman of the board in the presence of HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Honorary Chair of the World Scout Foundation since 1977.

As we slowly come out of the pandemic, it is crucial to provide youth with opportunities. I am all the more proud to serve world scouting by taking on this new responsibility.

In his inaugural speech, Prince Guillaume expressed his gratitude to the board members for the nomination and the trust they have placed in him. As he took on the Chair’s function for a 2 year mandate, the Prince called for the development of Scout communities around the world, praising the Foundation for supporting many Scouts initiatives around the globe and its relentless work to make scouting all the more known.

He also underlined that scouting runs in his family veins

I feel honoured to walk in my grandfather’s footsteps and I am certain he would be proud to see me serving world scouting in this new role.

In October 2019, Prince Guillaume took over the role of Chief Scout of Luxembourg after the passing of his grandfather, HRH the Grand Duke Jean, who had held that title with enthusiasm and commitment for 74 years.
